Show SUNNV3IDE. . . . A reduced force of men has of late been employed upon upon this mino in sinking a now shaft It is one hun- I drcd and forty feet deep, and the ex- trading of ore will bo resumed, the incoming week. , 31 0 UN TAJ N UO.N, i But few men are working upon this mine now. Tho character of the work done is that of exploration, but little ore is raised. Rumor hore says all the mines of this group from the Mountain Moun-tain Sun to the Zella has passed into tho hands of an English company. SILVEROrOLIS GROUP, In this once famous locality but little is being done. No ore is being extracted. ex-tracted. Some explorations are going forward. CHLORIDE HILL-U ROUP, Of all the good prospects of this group only the San Joaguin is being worked. A good ore body has of late been reached, and bids fair to yield well. Thirty tons of good ore is on tho dump, none is being sent away for reduction. I learn that this company has recently obtained a patent lor their property. SILVER SHIELD QftOtJP. Heretofore this group has ham considered con-sidered one of ihe best in this district, but for some cause or other nothing is being done in any of tho mines of the group, savethe Miner's Delight. In this I mine all the work being done is upon an incline, now down 180 feet. The object ob-ject of this wort: appears to bo to go beyond tbc Pyrites, which seeuu abundant abun-dant in this particular region. The surface ores hete are exceedingly abundant, but none are being extracted. ex-tracted. - . MCCULLOM GttOUP. Not one among all the good mines of this group is at this time beiog worked. 1 learn the owneri prefer selling to developing their mines. This may account for no work being done. This group is certainly one of vaiue, and should be properly attended to. BIDDEN TREASURE GROUP. Among the pi any good claims in this croup are tbje Chisago, Rambler, Fourth of July and Hidden Treasure. All of thstc claims are being vigorously worked, and tho ores extracted arc being be-ing sent to Stockton for rcduotion. Those of the Hidden Treasure go to Waterman & Co'b furnaces ; those of tho Chicago, Rambler and Fourth of July g6 to the reduction works of Jacobs Ja-cobs A, Co. i'ha explorations of the Hidden Treasure have reached the depth of 232 feet. During this long distance ores of fair quality have been cut. The Chicago has also reaohed the dopth of 240 feet, with average ores all the way down. The depth of the Fourth of July is 500 feet, giving good ores. This group is deserving of especial espe-cial attention on account of the fluxing qualities of its ores. This group of mines is situated on the drainago slope of Dry Cannon, but 1 shall not class them with toe DRY" CANYON ClROUt. These mines included in this croup are located ou the north side of Dry Canyon, Can-yon, and include those of Jacob's Hill, Snow Storm Hill, and the region near the Chance Mine. In this group more work is being dono at this time than at any other point in this district Among its mines of great value may be classed the Kcarsargo, Mono, Magnolia, Mo-Call, Mo-Call, Mountain Chief, Wandering Jew, Scottish Chief, Miania, Converse, Utah Queen and the Evening Star. KEARSARClE. The incline of this mine has reached the depth of 350 feet. About five tons of ore are daily extracted, principally from the backs. The one in the bottom bot-tom of the incline is fait approaching a free milling character. The ore go to Stockton for reduction. MONO MINE. The incline in this grct crinc has , reached 300 feet in depth. The face of the iodine at this depth docs not show any decrease in the quantity or value of the ores. No oro is being taken out at this time, save that which comes out of tho iooline, on account of tbc want of an oro house. . which is being rapidly built, and will soon be completed. Tho ore of this mino has of late been sent to the Jacobs' smelting works for reduction. One very striking feature of the ores of this mine ia the largo per centage of : gold they carry, JIIAMi, CONVERSE AND UTAH (jUEEST. From these mines considerable ore is beiog at present extracted under the management of W. A. Rooks, who has them bonded. The ore bodies are large, and the quality is good. These oros are scot to Stockton for reduction and are principally of a baao character. EVENING ST A R. This claim until very lately been unknown. un-known. Miller & Co., the owners, ran an incline ninety feet under this ore. Finally suspoctiog that they might bo under the oro body, they mado a raise from tho tho roof of tho incline in-cline and two feot upward brought them into what appears to be a largo and valuable deposit of oro. There are many other mines of this group that are being vigorously worked, and in many of them fair prospects arc had, and as they progress iioui time to time I will endeavor to placo their respective respect-ive merits before tho publio in my weekly summary, FOOTHILL GROUP. This group of mines arc Ecattorcd over a largo extent of territory. None of them are being worked except the Rip Van Winkle, at tho mouth of Dry canyon, and tho Green Clilorido Flat mines. The character of these mines is different from that ef nny other in tho district; so much bo that they do-serve do-serve an especial mention. East Thursday the range south of Evans, Colorado, caught fire from engine en-gine sparks and many thousands of acres were destroyed. Denver beef market has beared down to two oents per pound. Beef at two cents a pound is what tha housekeepers housekeep-ers have long been praying for. Shrewd men are quietly investing in real estate at Olympia, Washington Territyry. They expect to pocket two hundred per cent, when the railroad reaches them. Smith is at.it again. Jailed at Deer Lodge, Montana, tor horse stealing, he was uneasy until he strangled the oook. recehed a ball through his chest and took leg bail.
