Show From Washington we to-day receive news of the resignation of judge Nelson Nel-son of (he United States supreme court, old age and physical infirmities inducing his retirement from hia responsible re-sponsible position. With this, report comes the rumor that senator Oonk-ling Oonk-ling and judge Woodruff of New York are named for the vacancy. The former gentleman we know has no ambition for the position, and we would as soon look far Carl Scburz upon the supreme bench. It is poasi-possible poasi-possible that judge Woodruff may aspire thua high, but also very doubtful doubt-ful as to his obtaining the prize. Senators Sena-tors Trumbull, of Illinois, or Howe, of Wisconsin, or Edmunds, of Vermont are much more likely to succeed judge Nelson than are either Conkling or Woodruff.
