During the month of January last past, the following arrests were made by tho police of this eity, for the otTeuees named; Astault, I; asault and battery, 4; assault with deadly weapon, 1; contempt con-tempt of court, 1; disturbing the peace, 1; drunk, 3o; drunk and disturbing tbo peace. Us profane swearing, 2; escaped from jail, 1; fighting, 4; insane, in-sane, 1; rape, 1; swindling, 3; selling liquor en Sunday, 7; shooting in the street, 1; threatening, 1; vagrancy, 2; prostitution, 2; resisting an officer, 1; grand larceny, 2; petit larceny, 7; drunk and vagrancy, 3; assaulting an officer, 1; obtaining money under false pretences, 3. Total 101. Nine were discharged. Besides these thero were also arrested, five deserters; one on a charge of murder, sent to Sanpete county; and one on a charge of murder sent to Utah county.
