TIlAt E Y. : Nephi, Aug. 5, 1872. i Editors Salt Lake Herald; It is thought advisable and necessary neces-sary that the following circumstance be made known, bo that the friends, relations and acquaintances, of the person herein named may bo made aware of his decease. About sundown of tho 3d inst, Mr. Frederick Hamilton, of Pioche, left a sick person at the Nephi House, of this town, kept by H. Goldsbrough, Eq. On tho moining of the 4th he appeared to be considerably better, but about eleven o'clock a heavy, dull groaning was heard in his room, which called the attention of those in the other part of the house, when it was observed that he seemed to be laboring under the effect of some heavy narcotic. nar-cotic. Dr. Tait being immediately called iu administered the usual antidotes anti-dotes and restoratives, when, about three o clock p.m., he rallied sufficiently suffi-ciently to tell his namo. He stated his name to- be Al. Tracey, and that he had administered to himself some pills composed of quinine and gam-boose, gam-boose, but upon examining his medicine medi-cine case it was found that he had taken about four grains of morphine, instead. He continued to grow worse til! about half past eight o'clock, when, upon making an effort to turn himself, he suddenly expired. The same evening an inquest was held over the body by coroner Charles S perry, and the following verdict rendered ren-dered : Territory of Utah, -Nepih Precinct, ! Juab County. j An inquisition holden at the Nephi j House, in Nephi precinct, Juab county, on the fourth day of August, A. D., I 1S2, before Charles Sperry, coroner of said county, upon the body of Al. j Tracey there lying dead, by the jurors I whose names are hereto subscribed, j The said jurors upon their oaths do i say, that, upon the evidence presented before them, the deceased came to his death by an overdose of morphino, administered ad-ministered with his own hauds.
