Show Theatre. Tlie matinee performance yesterday was quite successful, and these matinees mat-inees are bound to become exceedingly exceeding-ly popular. We noticed yesterday Borne of our most prominent citizens present. The gem of the afternoon, to our mind, was the singing of "The minute gun at sea," by Missis, lica and Archer, both gentlemen leing in excellent voice, and both arc superior su-perior vocalists. Mr. Day lies' new ballad, "Called by the Angels," was well executed by Mr. Archer; Mr. , Reid's ventroquial performance was repeated afternoon and evening. J At night "After Dark" and "My Precious Betsy" were repeated with success. Mr. Vinson's Old Tom, in the former, is a capital impersonation, evincing study, masterly conceptioH and faithful embodieraent. To-morrow evening, Laura Alberta makes her first appearance, opening with Topsey in "Uncle Tom's Cabin," Cab-in," in which she Bings and dances. Tlie cast includes Mr. Vinson as Uncle Tom, Mr. Harrison as Deacon Pern, Mr. Crosbie as Gumption Cute, Mr. Cogswell as George, Mr. Thome as Haley and Logree, Miss Adams as Eliza, Miss Carrie Cogswell as Casy, Mrs. Rea as Ophelia, Miss Edith Ciawson as Eva, and ta petite Clan son as Little Ham; other characters, by the company. This is an exceedingly strong cast, and the performance should be a most enjoyable enjoy-able one. |
