We have received a copy of the memorial, and the arguments in liivor thorcof, addressed to tho judiciary committee of the .senate by Isabella Beccher Hooker, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, in support of the proposition that women arc entitled to the right of suffrago by virtue of the fourteenth amendment to tho constitution. constitu-tion. "The argument in favor of women suffrage advanced by these ladies is an able one, both with regard to the question generally, and the technical points raised as to the meaning of the word "citizen" in the fourteenth amendment, and the intended purpose of that amendment. We are sorry that so able a statement of tho wo men's case should have been prejudiced preju-diced by tho rude and boisterous man-ucr man-ucr in which it was presented, as stated in the public press, to tho committee. |
