Show PACIFIC COAST NEWS. CALIFORNIA. Dutch Flat, 24. At 8 o'clock this morning an immense blast of 700 kegs of powder was exploded in the Dutch Flat blue gravel mine, with splendid success. Over an acre of ground was broken up ready for washing. The blasts, sixteen in number, were fired simultaneously by Mr. Stephen D. Field, electrician 1'rom San Francisco, and the apparatus used was the electric elec-tric new blasting battery. Fully one half of the practical miners wero surprised sur-prised and delighted at the success of the application of electricity, and will probably use it in all large blasts hereafter. here-after.
