Show THE BOTTOM OF A FLORIDA COUNTY FALLS OUT. Savannah, Ga., Sept. IS. A most wonderful story is told here of a startling start-ling phenomenon in Florida: A large portion of Orange county changed to a lake. Tlio trees, houses and people were engulfed. There were many witnesses wit-nesses of tho phenomenon, all of whom say the first thing that attracted their attention was the trees moving, first in a gyrating motion, some sinking gradually grad-ually out of sight, the tops revolving more and more rapidly as they sank and disappeared, the others falline, and as they fell revolving and describing describ-ing arc3 of circles against the sky; the whole earth, as far as the C3"e could reach, sinking and its place being supplied sup-plied by a sea of waters, rushing seething seeth-ing and boiling with the noise of mighty cataracts, and ever and anon casting to the surfaco the trunks and tops of mighty pines and oaks. The country in every direction is entirely submerged, and is now one vast lake. It is rumored that the town of Orlando is swallowed up, and the whole chain of lakes from Allapopka to Lake Conway Con-way are now united and form an immense im-mense inland sea. The people are flying I error-stricken from the scene of the disaster. |
