Show GEAEIUL A lie ported Defaulter. Philadelphia, 11. The Exquir.r's Harrisburg special says, the report that George C. Evuns, iState war claim agent, is a defaulter is unjust, and that Governor Geary says Evans has been to the capitol several times to settle, but was unable to do so owing to the absenco of the Auditor Genernl. The Evzning Tchymplis dispatch says that Governor Geary, Evans and the financial officers of the State nro engaged in an attempt to settle Evans' accounts, and that it is believed the financial officers will allow Evans a very small commission, because of his criminal withholding oi' the funds. Threats of the impeachment oi' Governor Geary are made freely, but they come mostly from prejudiced circles. New York New. New York, The Democratic meeting last night denounced the Chamber of Commerce for its refusal to examine the city acconnts, and condemned con-demned the Time' slanderous attacks at-tacks on the mayor and comptroller, declaring these gentlemen should be beard before being condemned. Another meeting declared that Hoffman Hoff-man was responsible for the bloodshed on the 12th of July, and resolved to oppose him for any oflice.
