Yesterday the trotting match on Faust's track, for a purse of $7j, best two heatB in three, was won by Mulloy's horse "Sorrel Dan," in one heat, "Comet" and "Quaker Lad" being distanced and closed out; time 2.50. It is held that as neither of the losing horses saved their distance, no money passed to the second horse. Another race of double teams followed, fol-lowed, between Mr. Benham's "But-' "But-' tcrball" and mate, and Mr. Salisbury's "Lady" and mato, for $25 aside, which was won by Salisbury's team; time 3.19. Then came a running race of four hundred and forty yard.-", betweeu Patscy Marley's bay maro and Jim Wale's roan horse, Marley's marc winning. Considerable money changed hands. Thero was a talk last nighL between Marlcy and Wales of another race, for $1,000. |
