Halifax, N. S., 1. Six boats started this morning in the single scull race. The course was three and two-hTihs miles. At n signal to make ready, Sadler, Hagna Coul-tor, Coul-tor, Keiley, Brown aud Lovett, took up positions, and at tho word, go, all got off well and together except Ivelley, , who made a poor beginning and lost i about a length. Before half the course was gone over tho contest was narrowed down to a strngglo between Sadler and Brown. After a splendid finish Sadler won by about a length and a half, time twenty-live minutes and three seconds. Brown's rowing astonished even his friends, and had his course been longer it is thought , his chances would have beeu excelleut. |
