Show IIiuh Mass. The Midnight Mass' at the Catholic church, rf St. Mary i Magdalene, was very largely attended ; on Christmas eve, the church being filled to overflowing, and scores more , went away, being unable to obtain admission. ad-mission. Tho church was brilliantly lighted and the altar handsomely decorated decor-ated with evergreens and flowers iater-spcrsed iater-spcrsed with lighted candles. The service was imposing, the singing of the mass being quite creditable for this country, and the sermon of Father Walsh was suitable to the anniversary of the birth of the Savior. The ser-; vice on Christmas day was also well I attended. The mass performed on ' both occasions was Peter's, and consid- ' ering the difficulty of procuring musical musi-cal talent capable of rendering such difficult compositions, this effort was quite successful. The Pastor, Father WaUh is entitled to much credit from his congregation for his untiring efforts iu behalf of the interests of his chureh. |
