Show Katinu Children. A woman calling call-ing herself Prairie Ward has been tell ing the peoplo of Dayton, Ohio, that she had walked all the way f.om San Francisco to Dayton. Sho says she is forty-nine years of age ; that her father's name was Armstrong, and that he was a Wyandot half-breed. Her mother, she claims, was a daughter of Russell Rigelow, Chaplain of the Ohio Penitentiary, ln 1825, when living near Columbus, Ky., sho was stolen by Camancbo Indians and carried to the present Territory of Nebraska, where, at tho age of thirteen she was married to David Ward, a half'-breeed, by whom sho became the mother of eleven children. chil-dren. Her husband afterward joined the rebel army, and she stiy3d with tho tribe. They murdered the children, ate their flesh and danced in their blood. She afterwards escaped, taking the long walk above mentioned, and is in Ohio to find out her relations, having an aunt living in Bellefontaine. Her story is decidedly tough. Ex. |
