Show A Tif.lELY.'JTlO? '. We have on earnest and abiding de : siro to see this Territory continually ; flourishing. Far above any pecuniary I I interest is the wish to see every indus-' indus-' try and meiini of prores- encouraged and developed. But our desire is ' equally strong that this prosperity should be permanent and the reult of i honest, honorable legitimate efforts. ; Utah has held an excellent reputation among business men for probity, (air ! dealing and honesty, and it would be j a serious matter to have this reputa-i reputa-i tion tarnished; yet there are agencies ! at work which it' success ul would do it. I There is a good deal of mining ex citement around, and a fair prospect for the "wild cat'1 operations of other localities being repeated here. Everything Every-thing that can be tortured into an evidence evi-dence of richness in minerals is done by certain knowing and interested parties, par-ties, to accomplish the object in view; and the most absurd stories are circu latcd concerning mineral wealth. We have seen some published which were enormously ridiculous; and we must say that tho individuals or papers that would designedly circulate exaggerated tales of this kind to deceive capitalists, are simply trying to obtain money . under false pretenses. Some very fair leads have been discovered dis-covered and many honest men think they have made discoveries which will give them the possession of wealth ; but the parties to whom we more par ticularly refer are they who will not mine, nor work at anything else that is honest; but who are seeking to create cre-ate an impri .-siou of mineral wealth where it does not exist, that they may induce capitalists at a distance to come here ami invest, anxious only to get the money for which their fabulous leads are sold, whether the buyer realizes real-izes anything or not. We wish to extend an honest caution cau-tion to capitalists on this point. There are minerals in the territory, and we shall publish what reliable information . we obtain, concerning them ; but there is a deep-laid plan to create an impression impres-sion of wealth' where it does not exist, for the purpose of deceiving capitalists capital-ists and obtaining their money. We do not care who feels hurt over this. Honest men will be glad at our plain speaking ; and we ask no odds of rogues. But we state facts; and we caution cau-tion fien of means to be careful where and Tjow they invest, for their own personal interest as well as for the credit and good nama of the people of the Territory. |
