The agricultural agri-cultural (Central) society of Germany attributes the ravages of insects made on the crops, gardens and young forests for-ests of Fatherland, to the destructions of these birds which prey on the vermin. ver-min. The government, as early as 1S60, interdicted the tilling of certain birds, or the disturbance of their nests, under a smart penalty, and at the same time ordered in the village schools instruction relative to such useful friends. The sod. ty in ques tion has on foot the scheme of an international in-ternational treaty, to be executed between Germany, France, Auria, Spain, Italy, Greec", etc , for the protection ot these birds of passage, which go to pass their winters in the ( 6unnieat spots of the south. |
