| Show VISITED SIWSHIXE AXD MERCUR Union Pacific Officials Take a Jnnnt to Camp Floyd A day or two ago a company of Union Pacific officials including Messrs Eccles Dickinson Buckingham Bucking-ham McConnell and Young in their special car made a visit to the gold fields of Camp Floyd district They were accompanied by Charles Jacobs and Frank Officer of the Sunshine mine and at Fairchild the party was met by two fourhorse rigs and speedily transferred to the rapidly growing camo of Sunshine At the Sunshine boarding house a grand spread awaited them after partaking of which the party examined the mill and underground workings of the I great Sunshine mine Upon returning to the surface re freshments were again served when the railroad magnates again took carriages car-riages and were whirled up over the mountain and down into Mercur where they were conducted all through the workings of the bonanza Mercur mine lercur That they were well pleased with what they saw goes without saying They were more than pleasedthey were astonished for the examination of a camp that had examinaton million and a quarter in less than four years was more than they had count ed on and standing on the Mercur dump and looking down on the Golden Gate the Marion and the Geyser mines they were free in saying that never before had they seen such a flourishing camp for a youngster and that the wealth of ore contained in the Mercur mines was greater by far than they had calculated upon and of all these mines said one the Sunshine is not the least by any means At Mercur Manager Jacobs of tne Salt Lake Mercur road had a special train in waiting for companyT the hWVaitlns company In i which they returned to Fairfield and h T Fairfeld then J1ILtheir own train to this city which they reached in due time more than pleased with their visit to the Johannesburg of America Concerning the Sunshine mine one of the party informs The Herald repre sentative that there is a mile of work ings in this property all of which with the exception qf 200 feet is in pay ore also that it is the intention I to sink the incline shaft intenton now down to the 500foot level to a depth of 1500 feet and that the rails have al rais ready been purchased for this purpose |
