and did not adjourn until late last night The business of most I importance was the granting to R R Farnsworth and others of a franchise for a toll road into the mountains near Richfield The new thoroughfore will I be built from a point on the county road three miles north of this city to i I a belt of thick timber in the hills five I miles northwest of the place of beginning I begin-ning on what is known as the first 4 ritige north of Willow Creek canyon The franchise is good for 20 years Hitherto there has been no means of access to this ridge which is black with huge pines and cedars and the men at I the back of the road project expect to reap a harvest from timber sold and tolls collected For teams and heavy wagons using this road which must be kept in good repair the toll will not > exceed 50 cents a trip each for a team I and light vehicle 25 cents for a man Ion I-on horseback 10 cents and for horses cattle and sheep 10 cents a head The building of the road will begin soon laid over Appropriations aggregating 50370 were made ARE BOUND OVER The Mallard County Trio Placed Under Bonds Provo Enquirer Pete Woolsey E H Shaw and Mrs Ivy who were arrested ar-rested at Payson yesterday were taken before Justice Page The trio waved examination and were bound over to await the action of the district court Shaw is charged with incest and his bonds were fixed at 1000 and Woolsey and Sirs Ivy were charged with adultery adul-tery and were bound over in750 bonds each Shaw and Woolsey are both locked up in the county jail and Mrs Ivy has been provided with quarters with a family near the court house The man Woosey when questioned by the sheriff said that Mrs Ivy and himself had not lived as man and wife but they had led people to believe them married so that I airs Ivys reputation would not be injured i in-jured on account of her giving birth to i a child some four months ago He denied de-nied being the father of the child but said a map in Dixie was responsible for its birth and he had claimed Mrs Ivy as his wife to shield her He contradicted contra-dicted himself many times in his statement state-ment to the sheriff Shaw also denies having had any criminal connection with his niece Bertie Roberts but let people think they were married just for fun The grandmother of the child says that they passed as man and wife for the purpose of keeping the boys away from her The Roberts girl is between 15 and 16 years of age The people who live near them in Payson say they all lived together in a small house and it has always been supposed that the four were married Shaw and the girl have said they were married until about a month ago when it is alleged they denied it Mrs Ivy Shaw and the girl are all related the two former being brother and sister while the latter is a niece The old lady who has been living with them and who seems to be the head push is a grandmother to the girl Shaw has a wife and five children who are in very hard circumstances almost al-most starving They live in Meadow Creek Millard county LEHI BEET FARMERS French Seed Gave a Light Yield Notes Lehi Dec SLast evening the Farmers Far-mers union of Lehi met in the tabernacle taber-nacle to hear the report of a committee commit-tee appointed at a previous meeting to get information concerning the best seed to bc used in the coming beet season sea-son President A R Anderson was in the chair and all the om ers of the union were present One special feature of the committees report was a statement that the French seed this season Flowed only < four and threequarter torb of beetsto the acre while the other kinds of seed gave a yield of eight and three = qua t rtons to the acre The rep twSS received and I the committee discharged A committee of five was selected to wait upon the manager of the sugar I company and make knowntheir views I I concerning > the kind of seed they desired de-sired to plant next spring the price of I the same and also the price jf beets The Mr Charles Ohran has started up anew a-new industry for Lehi that of raising greenhouse plants He has a very fine hothouse and expects to enlarge his buildings next spring This season Mr John Beck has manufactured man-ufactured at his place in Lehi 2000 gallons of wine and 5000 gallons of cider So much for prohibition The Home Dramatic company of Lehi will place on the boards next Saturday Lynnwood Onehalf of the proceeds will go for the benefit of the missionaries The missionaries sent out by the Y M M I A are very busy in Lehi holding cottage meetings and also public pub-lic meetings and
