Show OLD BHAPSHAY7 AN LINCOLN Activity In Two of the Leading Lead Camps of Beaver County From Louis Lossing of Minersville an oldtimes in Beaver county it is learned that there is considerable activity activ-ity at the present time in Bradshaw and Lincoln districts which are two of the leading silver and lead camps in that portion of the south In Bradshaw district Chicago people are hard at work in the operation and development of the old Rollins mine which Is credited with being the first Utah lead discovery in the commonwealth of The Rollins mine figures extensively in the history of the state I ha already al-ready made several fortunes and is still a most valuable piece of property and in the hands of the present owners gives promise of soon heading the list of lead producers in the south At the present time there is a goodly shipment of high grade ore on the dump of this property which was taken from the upper workings of the mine and Mr Lessing states that the mine is soon to be equipped with a powerful pump so that the lower workings can be reached reach-ed and the large ore bodies there taken out and marketed Active operations are also in progress S at the Cave mine in Lincoln district This mine has been worked for years by H W Lawrence and Ben Hampton and under their direction the property is being thoroughly opened and developed devel-oped and it is understood that in the working of this old producer some fine bodies of high grade ore are exposed ex-posed Adjoining the Cave mine is the Premature Pre-mature owned by Mr Lessing in the development of which he has a force of three or four men employed under the superintendence of his son Considerable Con-siderable fine ore is showing in the premature pre-mature and Mr Lessing has assays of the rock indicating that the mineral carries values of 40 to 60 per cent lead 25 to 30 ounces silver and in the neighborhood neigh-borhood of 53 in gold to the ton A shipment of this ore is being piled on the dump and one of the objects of Mr Lessings visit to Salt Lake is to make arrangements for its sale with the local smelters In referring to the old Rollins Mr Lessing stated that in opening up the I mine a large body of high grade gold ore had been encountered I Silver and Lead The silver and lead quotations yesterday yes-terday were as follows wcrcru Bar silver 59 centp L6ad brokers 350 exchange National Bank of the Republic gold bar 2000 Tepublc Iilining Notes and Personals Tomorrow the Mercur company will declare de-clare Its usual monthly dividend and considerable con-siderable speculation is being indulged In as to how much It will be F B Taylor of the Taylor Brunton sampling work who has been in the city for the past few days left lat night for his home in Aspen Colo I A carload of Yuba lease ore Is in from I Ploche Nev The Yuba is one of the big i mines of this historic camp and is send Inc In about two carloads of high grade I stuff stuf monthly I Nothing of any consequence was done With the Argonaut gold placers at Bins ham during the past season and it is understood that the parties who are hold Ing a five years lease on the ground will II probably sublet the unexoired term of the bond I was Albert S Green of Chicago who was appointed to a place on the directory II di-rectory of the Northern Light Mining company Tuesday instead of O S Green as erroneously stated in these columns yesterday the mistake being due to a j I typographical error j The last Issue of the New York Engineering I I En-gineering and Mining Journal contains an j excellent description and illustrated arti ole on the Highland Boy mine and null at Bingham Tile article in question is from the pen of that graphic writer H L J Warren who handles the subject ably and well S S i j S Judge Henry Rives counsel for Captain J R DeLamar is pleased over the Intel I ligence received yesterday that the April 1 Fool Mining company of De Lamar Nev has just declared its first regular dividend and a the judge Is a stockholder in the i company he has good cause for selfcon sratulatlon j gatulation W I Sells left this morning for Alta j where he is working a force of three men at the Darlinton mine where a line showing of good ore Is exposed Mr Sells is just finishing the work of getting in supplies for the winter and at Sandy he met the Ala ore teams which took him and his provisions to the mine I J B Taylor who is working a force of I five men on the Outcast at Alta will make one more shipment of ore to the valley smelters this year when he will house up for the winter He is now gsl ting in his last lost of provisions and supplies and will work the mine continuously contin-uously all winter with the expectation that in the spring he will havo a lot of good shipping ore on the dump The 100 tons of BullicnBeck ore which was sampled and sold yesterday was disposed dis-posed of on controls showing values of S40 in sold and 105 ounces in silver t the ton Another ten carload lot is now en route to the samplers and Mr John Beck I states that the output will bo increased as rapidly as possible The mill at the mine will remain idleuntil lead again I advances when it will be started up again provided sliver maintains its present quotation 1 E Diehl editor of the Mammoth Record Rec-ord who was doing business in Zion yesterday yes-terday states that the outlook for Mammoth Mam-moth is looming up in great shape and that more work is now going on in that locality than has been witnessed for years past While Mr Diehl could not confirm the reports of the strike in the Annandale he states that in Mammoth it is generally understood that the property is In a most promising condition and that a change in the formation for the better I has been recorded of late George F Adkins and associates of this cltr who have been hard at work at intervals during the past few years in the devlopment of the Bob Ingersoll mine a short distance north and east of the city cemetery have succeeded in pushing their tunnel in a distance of 337 teet the last 4 of which is in a solid body of good leaching ore which will carry average gold values of 460 to the ton and i Is believed that further into the mountain the gold contents of the mineral will materially increase As it Is the ore is even now a pay milling mlin proposition A Salt Lake gentleman who is wen up i in mining matters in the west is of the I i j opinion that the Highland Boy copper deposit j de-posit and the copper holdIngs in Idaho owned by Colonel ii Shaugmvessy Ue I the most wonderful showings of this metal to be fotuid in this western country coun-try The Highland Boy copper bolt at I Bin ham is a recent discovery but with development it gives promise of opening I out in the near future into one ot the I greatest producers of this mineral on the Pacific slope and aj work progresses in I its development the Immensity of the oro I j chute is surprising as well as gratifying j B G Rognon who Is wail known in Sot Lake mining and business circles loft for the east last night and it is j expected ex-pected that soon aft < rr his arrival in New iTork tho papers will be signed for the i erection of a sugar beet factory at Mt j i Nebo in Juab county This plant is to j have a dally capacity of COO tons daily and will cost in the neighborhood of half a I million Its erection is a good as assured as-sured and It is believed that the factory I will be in operation during the season next year Besides the Mt Nebo deal I Mr Rognon has in hand several mining enterprises which he will spread before his New York people On account of trouble with surface I water the Black Diamond Mining company com-pany operating at Stockton will put in a I pump which it can do without much trouble trou-ble as th5 property is equipped with good I steam power and hoist as well as a compressed com-pressed air plant The Honorlne just above the Black Diamond has recently resumed operations and It is the overflow water from this famous old producer that 1 I is giving the Black Diamond i people trnu j i fet gg j bJe The drIft in the Black Diamond is sUll being < pushed to the juncture of the I I Honorin vein and late advices from these I i are of a most encouraging nature as a I decided Djrov = m = nt is noticeable in the j i face of the drift W C B Alien who is in from Mercur corroborate The reports received from I this great gold camp to the effect that the Geyser mill tunnel was again breaking I break-ing into ore as the VOTI which flsttened out soon after it was encountered has II righted up again and the indications are that the workings will soon again be in a fine body of milling ore Mr Allen also states that at the Snow Storm on the I west dip the shaft is now down to the 200 foot level at which point drifts are being run both north and south on an ore I body from 1 to 15 feet thick Mr Allen has always had the utmost confidence of I the ultimate outcome of tho camp > and now that its future is fully assured he is of the opinion that i will eventually open I out into rlio greatest gold mining district in the igre3test BC3 Ha wood of Blue Mountain fame is back again from the south where he has been superintending the driving of the long tunnel in the property owned by the I Blue Mountain Tunnel company the I members of which are largely residents of I this city This tunnel is now well under way and ample supplies and provisions have been laid in for th5 winter The Engineering I En-gineering and Mining Journal states that there hrs been a reorganization of the company but this is premature although it is more than likely that such action will take place in the near future and it is understood that the slate will be as follows Clarence McCornick president
