Show OGDEN SCHOOLS The people of Ogden should be proud of the public schools and especially the modern schoolhouses which have been erected during the past five years People who have ohildren attending school In old buildings or buildings rented for school purposes should visit some of the new buildings while school is in session and then go out and insist upon the erection of more schoolhouses I of the same kind If for no other reason the bonds which the school board are asking for should be voted because they will enable en-able the board to do away with the old buildings and house all the school chil dren in healthy school rooms Patrons of the school who are so for tunate as to have their children en joy the comforts of a modern schoolroom school-room have no right to put anything in the way of those who are not so for tunate It is certainly an economic move to erect new buildings because it will do away both with the old structures and relieve the board of a large rent bill every year which is equal to the amount of interest which the bonds would draw There is no saving to be effected by voting down the bonds because it will cost just as much or more to continue under present arrangements and there would be the additional evil of having a large number of children housed in unhealthy structures That the board will be economical In the expenditure of the money is a question ques-tion which the tax payers can easily deal with because if there should be a disposition to indulge in something that would be more ornamental than useful there are many ways to call a halt That the school board will try to obtain the most good for the least money naturally follows because there has been a number of buildings erected erect-ed and the people and the officials have a very good Idea of what a first class school building should cost |
