Show Mining Notes and Personals E A Burrell of Blackfoot Idaho who has been in the city for the last few days says that in his opinion Idaho will continue to hold its own as a mining state as the mines there are practically still undeveloped Placer mining near Dlacltfoot is about at a standstill on account ac-count of cold weather George Pepper Norris recently made a wager with Mr Airis that before the first of January next the product of the Sunshine Sun-shine mine would equal that of the Mer cur Mr Norris is now taking water and wonts to prolong the time Mr Alris is willing to extend the time for a year for money marbles or chalk and it Is expected that Mr Norris will put up today to-day or do the other thing By the middle of next month the Bingham Bing-ham Tunnel Co expects to put in a power plant for the extension of their threemile tunnel enterprise which will tap and drain the ore bodies of thE great producing mines of Lead Mine gulch and the highlands in West Mountain Mining district The motive power will probably be electricity which will be generated by steam for the present Messrs Brown Peyton and Andrews of this city are continuing work on their gold properties in Southern California where they are prospecting on what is known as the Mother lode which Is a great body of gold ore extending through the country for miles They have opened up a fine ledge of free milling ore and will put up a mill for its treatment in the spring Messrs Moffat of Denver Cheesman of Cripple Creek and Rockefeller of New York passed through the city night before be-fore last en route to southern California where they will Inspect the great Mother lode vein with the view of making investments invest-ments there The DalyWest company expects to have its new concentrator in operation on its Park City property early in January The milt will have a capacity of 100 tons ot oe daily The ore receipts at the Taylor Brun ton sampler averages 125 tons daily A stockholders meeting of the Elko Mining and Milling company Was held yesterday and the following officers were elected to serve for the ensuing year President T J Driscoll vice president F E Wilkinson secretary and treasurer G W Heintz and these with B A Sea bury and J J Rogers comprise the board of directors The shaft on the Elko is down 100 feet in ore and Mr Driscoll left for the mine yesterday for the purpose pur-pose of making a second payment of 500 on the contract The old Swansea mine near Silver City Tintic is coming to the front as a producer pro-ducer It shipped three carloads of ore last week it will ship two carloads this week and will send in three more next week Superintendent William Hatfield of this mine Is a pusher and no mistake and If he keeps up this lick the stockholders stock-holders the Swansea will soon be wearing wear-ing diamonds A consignment of steel pipe four feet in diameter for the Big Cottonwood Power companys power station has arrived ar-rived The sign yesterday that the mills In the Camp Floyd districts would be compelled to shut down on account of running short of cyanide They all had been borrowing from each other and the situation began to look serious but last night Manager Dern of the Mercur received re-ceived a telegram stating that a carload of cyanide had been received at the mill and now all Is serene once again W C B Allen has a rorce ot sixteen men at worlt in Mercur and Tintic districts dis-tricts John B Gordon of Tooele came in last night and is registered at the Cullen Mr Gordon is doing work on the Black Diamond lode a mile and a half south of Sunshine He has a shaft down fifteen fif-teen feet and has a body of good ore that is if ib goes anything in value He left this morning on a prospecting trip over into Skull valley and will stop at Redland Springs north of White Rock Pass Henry Fitzhugh M E and James Myron M E leave today for Ferber mining district Elko county Nevada for the purpose of examining into the merits of some mining property there for an eastern syndicate W W Chisholm of the Centennial Eureka left yesterday for Elko Nov on important mining business We learn that the CentennialEureKa mine never looked better than it does at the present time G R Bothwell who is just in from the Geyser at Mercur states that they have sixty feet of ore in the new strike In that property and that there are millions insight In-sight In speaking of the recent strike in the Mammoth memory takes us back to the time when twelve sacks of ore were stolen from this mine the value of which was placed at 60000 The Mammoth Mam-moth was a hummer then and is a daisy stow 1110E J Raddatz the Stockton mining man arrived in Salt Lake yesterday byway by-way of Mercur Like all the others who visit Utahs latest gold fields he reports things humming in Mercur and a livelier condition of things than exists anywhere in the intermountain country Frank Moorhous came in from Mercur last evening and reports the camp growing grow-ing with every day that passes Ed M Magnet manager of the Gold Dust Mining company whose mines are located at Leesburg In Lemhi county Ida and C E Rives secretary of the company left Salt Lake last evening for Denver Chicago and other eastern points The purpose of their visit east at this season is to arrange for a mill for their mine which recent developments show carries ore and values to warrant such an expenditure |
