Show omo I V 000000000A OOO OOI Q POilU ETUil1GS0 I 00 0006 > Op 00000 e1 > 00 There was quite a list of petty thieves in police court yesterday to be tried William Coons H T King and Frank Tresser were tried on the charge of stealing a ham from the Star Grocery company on the corner of Second South and State streets They wer then tried for steaing two sacks of sugar from the same place and on all the charges were found guilty Coons was fined 15 for one offense and 10 for the other King was fined 25 and 360 and Tresser was fined 20 The sugar was subsequently found In a store where the men had sold it and it was returned to the rightful owners George Thomsom who was charged with the theft of an overcoat over-coat and some razors was found guilty and fined 75 Neils Hanson who was captured in the act of helping himself to some nuts and other small articles in front of the Star Grocery was fined 5 for the offense offenseV V 0 0 Mr George OReilly appeared in the police station yesterday with rather a sad look upon his face And indeed he had something to be sad over He had gone to purchase a duck from a man who drove up to his house yesterday afternoon about 220 Mr OReilly had his purse with him and in the course of his trading placed it upon the seat of the wagon while he looked over the stock When he had picked out a duck that suited him he paid for it out of his pocket and forgot all about the purse Some time after the peddler had left Mr OReilly began to search i for his pocket book but could not find I it He then remembered that he had I left it in the wagon and the man went I off with it That duck was an expensive ex-pensive bird as the purse contained about 100 all of which went off with the peddler Mr OReilly lives just east of the Sanitarium and he will pay a suitable reward for the return of the purse and its contents o 0 0 Mr Stringfellow appeared at the police station yesterday and stated that he had tied his horse near the university grounds during the football game He went In to see the contest and when he camel out his horse was gone 000 John Ryan Harry Miller W E Thompson and John Hainey were arrested ar-rested yesterday on charges of vagrancy |
