Show I MRS GREGORYS ROMANCE DIVORCED MARRIED WIDOWED REMARRIES FIRST IIUSBAXD Everything Done With Bnsiiiessiyce Promptitude She Brings Her lresent Husband a Fortune Inherited In-herited from Her Second A most unusual if not remarkable wedding occurred yesterday when United States Commissioner Morris Sommer made Samuel Gregory and Margaret WalshMcLaughlin man and wife There are some circumstances connected with the wedding that are decidedly novel in the history of loving lov-ing and unloving couples Going back at least two decades Samuel Gregory and Margaret Walsh were young and ardent lovers who united uni-ted their destinies and for years lived happily together There were but few dark clouds in all the sky of these years of one almost continuous honeymoon honey-moon until one day almost a year ago the climax of Gregorys association I associa-tion with the misguided industrial army led him on to the endless domain of the tramp Divorce mill Marriage It was on the 21st day of February last that Mrs Margaret Gregory was granted a divorce from her husband Samuel Gregory on the ground of nonsupport The case was tried before be-fore Judge Merritt and Attorney Morris Mor-ris Sommer was counsel for Mrs Gregory and handed her the decree which set her free at the age of 45 years Once more Margaret Walsh she carried car-ried her divorce to her trunk and didnt do a thing the next day February Feb-ruary 22 when all the country was paying its respects to the memory of the father of his country George Washington but get a license to marry James McLaughlin a sturdy miner of Park City and thus was ska divorced and married again within twentyfour hours Death and Matrimony From all that can be learned of her life as Mrs McLaughlin she was happy and contented and her husband made her a good living Finally he took sick and after a lingering illness died on November llth ult She did not ape the semisavage barbarity of crepe or useless tears but hustled around and got the estate left by her departed depart-ed into the iprobate court Last Saturday she was pointed < ad ministratrix by Judge McNally and all matters for the final accounting are in shipshape Yesterday afternoon she ap peared in the county clerks office on tiptoe and whispered the purport of her erranda marriage license and wanted it quick and quietly Just what she thought or what the clerk I thought if either thought no one knows only that when Mrs McLaugh lin was told that she would have to produce the male end of the matrimony matri-mony contemplated she went out into the tiled hallway and pulled Samuel Gregory away from a match tobacco juice expectoration with one of the janitors and waltzed him into the walzed presence pres-ence of the man who issues licenses The twain went through the formality of twenty years ago The whole business busi-ness was gone through so quietly that even the lady clerks did not raise their heads as is usual to see who are the next couple to make themselves miserable The license obtained the old hushanri and wife hurried out and down the marble stairs out the west entrance I and skipped over the gravel walks across the lawn like school children On their way up town they talked over the long ago and more recent subsequently and possible fu ture The past was buried and would remain buried They had drifted apart like two leaves down a stream that were converged at an island to pass on each meeting a new and different phase on either side yet neither satisfied satis-fied and floating on they meet again further down where their currents join below that island and fall over ripples of joy That is this is the way it is understood they painted the pictures However they went direct to Morris Sommers office in the Eagle block to the very man that divorced them and there in the presence of a few witnesses nesses they were again made man and wife before supper time last evening Both are 46 years old Mr Gregory is l an employee in the Alta club and when Mrs Gregory has the estate left by her late husbands will there is not much prospect of an industrial army separating them again The romance ro-mance has some strange features about it especially that eccentric genius displayed dis-played in doing things quickly and without any sentimentality which clothe ing interest the story with more than pass |
