Show SHE HAS TALENT Barratfs Opinion of Miss Florence Lillian IVicUes Memphis Tenn April 7iss Florence Flor-ence Lillian Wickes youngest daughter daugh-ter of the vicepresident of the Pullman Pull-man Palace Car company of Chicago made her debut on the professional stage last evening at the Lyceum theatre the-atre appearing In The Sign of the Cross with the company of Wilson Barrett I can see nothing In connection with this move of Miss Wickes which should particularly interest the public pub-lic said Mr Barrett this afternoon I came about solely through the instrumentality in-strumentality of the late theatrical manager John W Norton who was my friend and who was killed in a disastrous railroad wreck some weeks ago He had requested me to give certain proto es of his trials and Miss Wickes was among the number I had occasion thereupon to judge of her talent and found her to possess unmistakable ability as an actress and I am glad to name her with my company She has great talent and I have no doubt as to her future brillIant liant success as an actress At present pres-ent of course she plays only the junior jun-ior parts |
