Show BUSINESS PICKING UP I Interview with Superintendent Ivmipp of the Southern Iacllie The Herald reporter ran up to Ogden over theUnion Pacific yesterday morning and interviewed Superintendent Knapp of the Southern Pacific That official was in the best of spirits owing to the picking up of business He had not yet learned of the victory of the Lmon Pacific Pa-cific people at Portland and when so informed in-formed by The Herald man smiled knowingly a well as affably remarking Tho Union Pacific folks seem to have things coming their way No doubt they are all well pleased When asked about Southern Pacific business he replied Business with us is certainly picking up dally Only today we have put on two more trains and we will soon have to put on more to handle our fruit traflic Right nov we arc handling hand-ling forty cars of oranges dally besides other fruit in quantity The fruit business busi-ness will go on increasing Besides we are just now handling a great deal of stock some of it comes through from California points while the greater part of it is from Nevada I may say that we are anticipating a good season in the railway world not alone in our imme raiway aono Hate section but all over the country we may expect to SEe a fairly good tonnage for the roads I We have here In Ogden at present a goodly number of men at work In and about the shops The number will aggregate I ag-gregate fully 200 and even this number must necessarily be increased after a j little time Yes the Southern Pacific is well up In business and still i comes j |
