Show C C 000DWTh the campaign the Goodwin pilgrims made their famous tour throughout the Territory In the summer of 1S12 he was one of the delegates sent to Washington lu the interest of silver legislation SAMUEL FRANCIS Of Morgan Morgan county son of William Wil-liam and Ann Francis was born In Trowbridge Wiltshire England July 3 1S30 On leaving school he went to work in a cloth factory until he was 11 years of age He became a member of the Mormon church in February 1847 In 3F50 he was called to be a missionary of said church traveled and preached in England until the fall of 13 > J when ho was sent to labor In the Swiss and Italian missions remaining there until 1S58 While laboring in said mission he was married to Miss Esther C E Weisbrodt at Geneva Switzerland by the English consul July 1st 1837 They emigrated to Utah from England Pill Lived in Salt Lake city the first winter aftor their arrival and in the spring of 1352 removed to Farmlngton to work a carding card-Ing machine In the fall of ISiS having bought a small farm in Morgan county they removed there where they have lived and raised their family Their family fam-ily now consists of seven sons and three daughters all living Since 1C8 Mr Francis has been a servant of the people having been elected to the offices o school trustee justice of the peace county clerk county recorder prosecuting prosecut-ing attorney and probate judge line served three terms as Representative and one term as Councilor in the Territorial Terri-torial Legislature Was elected a Delegate Dele-gate to the Constitutional conventions In 1t t 1 dia gr SAMUEL FItAXCIS 4 1SS2 and 1SS7 At the present time he is first counselor to the president ot the Morgan stake and business manager of Z C 3L L of Morgan Mr Francis is a staunch Democrat |
