Show 1 ECLIPSE OF THE MOON Ylcw11 l > j Many People Very In icrcstliig Sight The total eclipse of the moon last night Was viewed with great Interest by the citizens of Salt Lake city Owing to the early hour for which the event was fixed nearly every one In the city was enabled to witness the covering of the lunar orb The telescope man on the corner cor-ner did a landoffice business people falling fall-ing over o another to get a good view of the scene through the tube Owing to the absence of the astronomical astronom-ical man from tho city the assistant horse editor was detailed to write up the event Should there be any anachronisms In this account it must be attributed to the fact that he is not up oh sky lan guage I The moon entered the ncnumbra shortly IIl ltOi llr tV e rft h ly after it rose and in less time than it takes to blanket a baby was out of I sight Once in a while the nenumbra would break away and the satellite could be plainly seen with the naked eye while at other times it would go out again The whole business lasted for about two hours during which time it was necessary neces-sary to turn on tho electric lights which was done at gfeat expense and was a magnanimou act on the part of the company whose contract for illumination does not include eclipses of the moon > and who are to be congratulated upon this burst of generosity At the hour of going to press the moon was plodding along in the same old fashion fash-ion looking no worse for its recent encounter en-counter The penumbra had disappeared disap-peared |
