Show S B ARMOUR DEAD Established the Famou Kansas City Packing Houe Kansas City Mo March 29S B Armour head of the local packinghouse packing-house of Armour Co and brother of P D Armour of Chicago died at his home here at 930 this morning of pneumonia 11 Armour had been i for two wcels He had practically re covered on Monday but suffered a relapse re-lapse yesterday Slmem B Armour was born on a farm in Mason county in New York Feb I 1828 He was bred to hard work on the farm and lived there until 1870 when at the request of hi brother Philip he came here to open a branch of the Chicago house In the fall of 18iO and the tinter of 181 the firm of Plankington Armour began business ir a rented building The spring of 1871 the first building owned by Plank ington Armour was built I is now a part of the big plant that coverS acres S B Armour was marrIed June 21 1856 to Miss Margaret Klock of Oneida N Y They had no children Mr Armours most marked character 11 istcs were a great insight into human nature great business tact and shrewdness shrewd-ness economy modesty and simplicity of character and life and great tender n9SMr Mr Armour wa very active in all public affairs and did much to enhance en-hance the citys worth He helped organize or-ganize the New England Safe Deposit Trust company of this city in 18i9 and acted of its directors as one up to the time of its conversion last year Into the New England bank in which concern he held the office of director at the time of his death I t1e dethr |
