| Show TWENYFOUR HOUR RACE All the Well Known Professionals Will Participate A twentyfourhour race is to be given at the Salt Palace Sept 1819 The event has tie under consideration by the Palace management for sometime some-time but they have postponed it from time to time awaiting the arrival of John Lawson and his pac t1gmachine Nearly all the fast professional riders rid-ers will compete in the race Julius Caine Edmunds Turville Chapman and some lesser known riders have already al-ready signed an agreement to race Four hundred and seventyfive dollars in prize money will beoffered 200 for the winner and 125 75 50 and 25 for the next four men in the race There will be at least ten entries and perhaps per-haps more Distance racing has never been attempted at-tempted on anv Salt Lake track but it has been immensely popular in the east A sixday race would probably not prove a success here owin r to the steepness of the track but the twenty fourhour race which has all Its elements ele-ments of interest without the brutal features of the longer race ought to please the patrons of the track Tn order to win any prize money the winner must ride at least 400 miles the second man 380 miles the third 370 the fourth 350 and the fifth 325 miles This will Insure fast riding right through the race |
