Show OBSERVED THE DAY OEV T School Celebration and Old Folk Dinner at Morgan Special Correspondence Morgan Feb 22 Washington s blrth dny Wa fittingly observed by some of the the schools of this county yesterday North Morgan school being one of them Several prominent citizens were invited to relate anecdotes relating to Washington rlatng ton and Lincoln About fitly or sixty of the parents assemble The pupils rendered ren-dered short sketches of both Lincoln and i Washington and a number of appropriate I appropri-ate recitations and songs were given The I two rooms of the school united and the i but was programme was quite length I nevertheless apparently hignly appreciated appre-ciated ca te day was ushered in at about 5 oclock bj the ringing of the school bell and tao tiring of guns I was to be not only a celebration of Washington birthday birth-day but an old folks reunion day for North Morgan The committee consisted of Daniel Reiner J W Stewart Kd Stod dard and Thomas Palmer including their wives and several other ladles They spent much time and pains to make the affair a pleasant one for the guests and everybody In the ward prepared food for the occasion By 12 clock I two long lines I of tables laden with nearly every Known good thing were ready for the hungry I folks After singing and prayer inc people peo-ple set to work on the food After the j lirst crowd had eaten a second table was prepared and from the hour of 12 00 until nearly 3 oclock the Inner man was served to the contentment of all both young and old who hanpened to be near Reminiscences Reminis-cences of trials and hardships undergone by tome or the old people present were Interesting to the younger generation Nearly all the old I folks present were requested tdal 1 quested to speak and a very pleasant time was spent Old songs were sung and recitations story telling and other entertalnlnz matter made the afternoon pass quickly I was nearlj 6 oclock when a lunch from the remains of tho dinner was served Many were the expressions ex-pressions of satisfaction and pleasure expressed ex-pressed bv those who were the guests of honor after they had been dismissed No less pleasant and artistic were the decorations The portraits of all the pioneer pio-neer and old residents of the vane that could be secured were hung on the walls and around them were entwined national colors evergreens and towers |
