| Show ASSESSOR LTXCH drew 1000 in advance of his salary a short time ago and soon after i t he asked the county court to allow him 2000 more also in advance of the determination deter-mination of the amount of salary to be paid him Selectman HOWE very properly objected ob-jected to this and as all the other members of the courtagreed with him the assessor will not receive any more in advance salary at present Our only reason for making mention of this fact is that the Liberal organ through its local columns has been berating Selectman HOWE for his action in this matter If any censure is due however how-ever the whole court and not a single member should receive it and the censure should be limited strictly to tho question whether the court did not act with too lavish a kindness toward the assessor in allowing him the first 1000 of his salary in advance That proceeding might possibly pos-sibly bo at fault but tho denial of the 53000 I was court in the plain line of the duty of the |
