| Show IN 1 RAILWAY CIRCLES President McCnue on Electric Extensions to be Made THE RECENT ELECTION RESULTS Work to be Pushed at Once in Various Directions Direc-tions General News of Track and Train The announcement in THE HEIULD the other day that the JarvisConklin interest had been let outof the street railway com any directoryoccasionod some comment in financial circles James H Bacon and Mr Jarvis of the old directory it is learned received no votes except the 2000 shares held by the JarvisConklin company Mr Bacon being their representative The remainder of the stock hold by Messrs McCune Armstrong Chambers Dooly and others voted solidly in i favor of two home menSpencer Claw son and Frank Armstrong The stock held by Jarvis Conklin amounts to 100000 and how they relish being is relsh dropped not known but it is safe to kv say they will not view the action with any exuberant feel ings of delight Mr McCune president of the company when seen by a reporter would say nothing noth-ing on this subject except that the stock stck holders 1 had decided it advisable to have a board 1 whose members were more easily reached i than the old board Mr Jarvis lived in Kansas City Mr Chambers was frequently called to San Francisco Mr Bacon was absent a good deal and the only ones of the directory who could be relied on when wanted wore Mr Read and himself him-self Hence the change to Mr Clawson and Mr Armstrong From another quarter it was learned that the private re lations of the JarvisConklin people and some of tho other directors had not been all peace and amity that there was a feeling to tho effect that Mr Bacon would have his hands too t full in carrying out tho contract necessary to obtain the Old Fort to give tho proper degree of attention to street railway mat ters On tho subject of improvements by his company Mr McCuno was inclined to be more communicative He said they would I expend about 400000 during the coming I summer in extensions and the erection of a second power house Where this would be was not yet decided on but it would be as far from the present one as practicable One of their earliest moves would be to cross the Jordan river on Second South street running over about threequarters of a mile to the network of additions in which Coates Corum and about a dozen others were interested The First Second and Third South street lines would be con nected by a cross line on Fifth West To miss the network of railroad trackage the Jordan line will run west on First South from Fifth West to Eighth West thence to Second and thence over the river An other extension to be made at once urns thn running down Fourth East to the race track still another an extension of tho lino on Brigham street out to tho foothills t and there were still others contemplated i which coula not yet be given for publica tionThe publca The plans of this enterprising company certainly show no lack of faith in the fu 1 ture prosperity of tho city and they set an excellent example to others of our citizens citzcns who close the mouths of their moneybags and shake their heads over the trade and industrial outlook I |
