| Show Attempted Revolution in Paraguay Suppressed BUENOS AYRES Oct 22 Advices received re-ceived here from Asuncion the capital of the republic of Paraguay bring news of an attempt there to overthrow President Gonzales The attempted revolution however how-ever was promptly suppressed by troops loyal to the government Full details are not yet procurable but It is known there has been an uneasy feeling in Paraguay and a spirit of hostility to tho government there for some time past The trouble originated in political rivalries and disap pointed ambitions the outs scheming against the Uins and the latter leaving no stone unturned to crush their opponents politically and otherwise The jealous rivalry continued to grow in strength until the governments opponents some days ago boldly threw off the mask and collect ing the most desperate of their adherents they made an appeal to the people armed themselves and sought to wrest the reins of power from tho properly constituted authority claiming the latter had in many ways abused the trust vested in them The government immediately sent n force of troops to put down tho insurrection An engagement took place between the government gov-ernment troops and the revolutionist which resulted in the defeat and flight of the latter The insurgents in the main were so badly routed that they wore compelled com-pelled to fly from the territory of Paraguay and seek refuge w thin the borders of tho Argentine republic The government was notified of this fact and sent instructions to the frontier authori ties orderin that all Paraguans found with arms in their possession on this side of tho frontier should be disarmed This was done without any difficulty the de feated revolutionists readily sufrendorln their weapons when requested to do so by tho Argentina officials |
