| Show 7 The Election Yesterday dawned bright and clear and by the timo the sun made its appearance over the eastern Wasatch tho people began flocking to tho voting places to cast their ballots and work for their respective parties par-ties No election was ever held perhaps in Ogden where harmony prevailed at the polls so much as it did here yesterday It was generally believed that each of the polling places would be red hot from the very beginning but such was not the case Two brass bands were on the streets during I dur-ing the day and aside from that nothing Was visible to stir up enthusiasm for any ticket In the First ward the voting was done at the city halL At the spring election this was one of the Liberal strongholds and it was here the Democrats did some effective work The Republicans tried to muster up enthusiasm but somehow they did not do as well as they really expected Bob Lundy engineered the Liberal electioneering electioneer-ing ingIn the Second ward the polls were located lo-cated at Kelson Fells livery stable The Second has always been the strongest Liberal precinct in the city and the greatest great-est strength seemed to be noticed there during the day The Third warders voted at the Mound Fort school house where a good vote was polled The Cortez building was the location of the Fourth ward polling place The tight during the day in this ward seemed to be between the Democrats and Republicans Hard work was done on all sides and at times quite a crowd was noticeable around the polls The first thirteen votes cast were Democratic straight In tile Fifth ward the Liberals didnjt eeem to be in it from the start and had it not been for Theodore Schansenbach they would not have perhaps secured as many votes as they did The Democrats did good work in this ward Up to about 5 oclock 1900 out of 2700 registered votes of the city had been cast The only disturbance noted during the day Was at the Fourth precinct where two well dressed fellows were arrested for threatening threaten-ing to commit bodily harm on the person of A W Wertz |
