| Show The Accident to Emperor William Special to THE HERALD Examiner Cable BERLIN July 3 Details of the accident to Emperor William I on the imperial yacht Hohenzolleren have been received herein private letters The accident took place in the afternoon of July 2 when the decks had been rendered slippery by linoleum lin-oleum and a drizzling rain The Emperor I lost his footingwhile walking on the quarter quar-ter deck and fell on his hands and knees At first he tried to make light of tho accident acci-dent and ridiculed i Dr Leotnold3 made the statement that the left knee was seriously ser ously Injured He attempted to walk and to remain on deck but eventually agonizing agoniz-ing pains in his knee compelled him to go below and submit t the dressing of his leg His knee wa swollen and tho Emperor was iritable and feverish Dr LeotLold poulticed ned bandaged the swelling and sent the Emporor t bed For several days the Emperor was carried on deck and there lay quiet on a deck chair When the bandages were removed on Friday the inflammation in-flammation had been greatly reduced An elastic knee cap was then applied and tho Emperor was allowed t walk again Aside from the injury to his knee the Emperor Em-peror is in fine condition despite tho exhausting ex-hausting feting to which he has been subjected sub-jected since his departure from Berlin |
