r SAN fUANCISCO RANKS J Bunk onicinls Think that the Worst is 2 j Now Over Jr SAN FRANCISCO July 15The semiannual r semi-annual report of the San Francisco savIngs sav-Ings banks was made today Twelve sav i1 l ings banks are shown to have resources i aggregating 120000000 The financial situation in this city and state is improving improv-ing said Thomas Brown cashier of the Bank of California this afternoon Money is perceptibly easier and business busi-ness is slowly getting back to its normal condition cuditon Have any of the banks who are members mem-bers of the San Francisco clearing house found it necessary to use certificates I which that institution authorized to be I issued asked a reporter Not a certificate his been issued replied Mr Brown There has been no necessity for issuing any and in my opinion there will be no occasion forth for-th m The clearing house merely took thaI action because the New York clear ncton J ng house and clearing house in other leading cities of the United States I were doing so and we were asked to take similar action There might have been emergency in this city vhere these certificates would have helped our banks in the transaction of our business busi-ness but it did not arise and as I intimated mated before I do not think it will arise All our banks were well fortified with coin a the semiannual statements have shown The worst is now over and the banks are greatly assisting their country patrons and are otherwise helping to move crops
