| Show THE COURT AT BEAVER I Emerson Indicted for Embezzling a Salt Lake Mans 1Iouc > Beaver Dec rSpccial via Deseret Telegraph After deliberating nearly 1 three days the grand Jury jame into court this afternoon and returned an indictment against HenryEmerson for embezzlement The circumstances have t previously been published in The Herald 1 Her-ald and there is nothing new to say t about it ISmerpon has been the subject of the grand jurys attention three or four times this one being the first that any presentment has been made S J Kenyon the noted Republican politician of Salt Lake is the prosecuting prose-cuting witness claiming that Emerson received 1000 from him for the purchase pur-chase of court scrip and applied it to personal use l Emerson does not seem disconcerted in the least but claims to be able to thov that he had done no wrong in the premises but is the victim of a combination whose object is anything but praiseworthy He was placed un der S2000 bonds and the trial was set for next Tuesday There was nothing of consequence apart from this in the district court today The Democratic rally previously spoken of to be held on Saturday evening in Fields opera house will be i addressed by Judd Thurman and Ken i ner i From Farmington Farmington Dec 6 Isabella Ann i Cowley wife of our respected citizen James Udy fell dead at her home in North Farmington yesterday while preparing pre-paring for a trip to Salt Lake city The deceased was nearly 63 years of age and leaves a large family and circle < of friends to mourn her sudden demise de-mise Mrs Udy was one of the early set r tlers of Utah coming here over forty < years ago and has resided in Farm ington since early in the Fifties She L recently enjoyed a visit from one of r her daughters residing in the Snake river country Idaho who left but a few days ago for her home and will c be met on her arrival with news of I her mothers death The funeral will be held in the meeting house on Saturday Sat-urday next F V Some time since the Farmington LY division of the Union Pacific sustained a loss of four bales of wire and a number of railroad ties The articles Ioi were traced to one Pat Homer who iws arrested and placed under 100 londs Pat skipped for parts un known and the attorneys are looking wise and are doing nothing meanwhile mean-while The county court this week are study ing the road question of this county and will probably order further improvements im-provements on our highways The local Dramatic association is preparing the drama Among the Breakers for holiday entertainment La grippe has had control of a large number of our citizens but is gradualy yielding to softer influences Prof Moench of Ogden who with his wife has been conducting a series of lectures on the Science of Life concluded the course last Suncluy even ing with a review of the studies taught |
