| Show THE XOXPAUTISAX BUSINESS The ISonPartisan Racket is an appropriate heading to an editorial in our morning contemporary which has done its level best to split up the ranks of the voters wherever there was danger dan-ger of the election of a Democrat on a nonpartisan ticket If the candidate candi-date was a Liberal or a recently Re publIcanized Liberal he was all right in our neighbors eyes and strictly nonpartisan But if he happened to be a Democrat that settled the matter mat-ter so far as its influence extended It does not matter now except as a question of veracity and good faith But the Democra5of this city will take notice thatj n u par isan with the Tribune and > Its c crowd means non DemocraticW J c Here is a pvajraph from its editorial editor-ial of Wednesday on this subject Against any desire on our part the election of school trustees in at least three of the precincts has become bitterly bit-terly partisan hence we once more urge all Republicans to be sure to vote today There has been no vicious partisan work except in two of the precincts and that was stirred up by the Tribune Tri-bune It failed In the Fourth precinct and would have failed in the First if the Republicans had not fused with the rank Liberals in preference to uniting with the Democrats for a nonpartisan nonparti-san candidate We did not expect the election of Mr Laney after the action of the Republicans on Monday who had been as profuse in their objecli Ito I-to the manner of the nomination of Mr Alff as were the Democrats of the precinct However he announced himself him-self henceforth as a Republican and if they are satisfied we will try to be The plot in the Fourth precinct by men who aided in the nomination of Mr Toronto was a mean piece of business busi-ness approved of course by the Tribune Tri-bune It has received its reward in the election of Mr Toronto by a handsome i hand-some majority The trouble and expense I ex-pense the plot entailed ought to be remembered by the voters in the Fourth and it should be a pointer for them in the future Now the election is over let all the school board labor for the best interests inter-ests of the people and the cause of education in this city and the wrangling wrang-ling over their choice can be passed by as far as they are concerned But L x nocrats should not forget what nonpartisanship non-partisanship means to a certain class in this community |
