Show TOUGHS BEFORE GEE Youthful Thieves Demand a Jury Trial Several FIghters Tried Justice Gee yesterday disposed of the ordinary run of drunks and disorderlies besides passing judgment on a few assault and battery cases Bobbie McDanald and Henry Brown I were charged with stealing fifty sacks from Grant Bros livery barn McDonald I McDon-ald is a young oldtimer having frequently fre-quently faced the magistrates music before be-fore The pair pleaded not guilty and I with kindergarten arrogance demanded a jury trial The following jury of city ball officials was empanelled C E Stanton PO Perkins J L May J K Jensen C M Jackson and D B Lee who subsequently rendered a verdict of guilty The court ordered the defendants guit sent to the district court for the purpose of being sent t the reform school A BARROOM FRACAS William Gordon wandered into court with his head wrapped in some thirty yards of cotton bandages and charged William ONeil a barkeener with conduct unbecoming a gentleman It seems that Gordon had intimated ton to-n n on the night previous that he ONei on could make an ordinary bar towel of ONeil or any other man in the saloon without over exerting himself ONeil took exceptions to his declaration and ordered him out Gordon refused to comply com-ply whereupon ONeil extended his trustworthy right and landed in the vicinity vi-cinity of Gordons jaw This did not seem to convince Gordon that he should hastily exit so a few pile drivers were hasty brought into use which were successful ONeil pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault and battery and was discharged BATTLE OP THE COOK John Carter and Joseph Kamerra two knights of the kitchen at the St James hostelry engaged in a playful encounter which terminated in a heavy volley of dishes carving knives chairs etc from both carvng the close of the battle the Kamerra side disclosed heavy losses I Carter claimed to be not guilty of the Carr charge of the charge of assault and battery bat-tery preferred by Kamerra and his opinion was sustained by the court I CARRIE ACQUITTED The circumspective John Smith claimed that Carrie Simpson had reduced his wealth from four or five dollars to nothing noth-ing and accordingly had Carrie arrested Carrie pleaded not guilty and defended her own case with sagacity and eloquence She was discharged Bob Lemon who was charged with vagrancy va-grancy pleaded not guilty and his case was set for 3 p m March22 John Anderson paid 55 for drunkenness and Guy Seeley who was charged with the same offense had his sentence suspended sus-pended |
