Show THE COUNTY comtr 3Iany Applications for Appointments Laid on the Table The county court met again yesterday with Selectmen Bamberger Cahoon and Morris present Selectman Cahoon was elected chairman and business was proceeded pro-ceeded with as follows gg 21 T M Durham complained of a dead horse at First West and Tenth South streets and the Union Pacific Railway company was notified to remove the same Secretary McDaniel appeared as invited in-vited in relation to the appropriation for a relief map in the sum of 5500 or 1000 for the Worlds fair but the matter was postponed for the time being ExTreasurer Toronto appeared and explained ex-plained the bill of the Utah Commercial and Savings bank in the sum of eiOO for rent of the office occupied by himself The matter was laid over The county attorney reported on the matter of the estray funds in the hands of the treasurer and Selectmen Bamberger and Morris were appointed to examine the account The county attorney reported favorably on thejcase of W Smith et al vs H W Watson et al and was instructed to confer con-fer with the other attorneys in the case and ascertain upon what terms a four rod street on the Salt Lake base line could be released from the alteration of the mortgage on the land involved in said action The county attorney reported adversely on the petition of Rideout Craco for relief of taxes on a stock of merchandise which had been consumed by fire and the report was adopted The clerk was instructed to notify Nora Hjelm to appear in person and give further fur-ther explanation with regard to her petition peti-tion for abatement of taxes I The following resolution was adopted Whereas There Is in the hands of exSheriff Burt the sum ol JS5 for the purpose of defray lug expenses of transporting insane persons to the insane asylum and for toe purpose of procuring I pro-curing transportation for indigent persons and Whereas There was on the 19th Instant an appropriation of JuO made to Selectman Bam berger for similar purposes the exsheriff Is I hereby instructed to turn over the said sum to Selectman Bamberger and that the further sum of i85 is also appropriated to cover the amount in Mr Burts hands I Judge McDowell appeared in person on behalf of I M Barrells candidacy reappointment re-appointment as game commissioner and asked for the sportsmen that he be reappointed reap-pointed W C A Smoots application for liquor license was granted The county physician reported 10 patients pa-tients in St Marks hospital and 11 in the Deseret hospital making a total of 21 The report was filed Joseph Lippman suggested the advisability advisa-bility of ordering record books in advance ad-vance of the time of actual need and called attention to certain books needed in his department Filed James Hegney et al asked that H F Taylor be appointed road supervisor in North Point precinct Laid over Theodore Burmister et al asked the appointment ap-pointment of G B Poage as road supervisor super-visor in Sugar House ward Laid over Dr J S Sharp applied for the position ot county physician Laid over The bond of Fred L Kent of Granger for liquor license was referred to the county attorney A L Williams and wife applied for the position of superintendent and matron of the infirmary Laid over The report of D R Allen superintendent superintend-ent of schools for Salt Lake county was I received and filed R H McKaig asked for the appointment appoint-ment as road supervisor for the Eleventh district Laid over F T Davison applied for the position of janitor at the court house Laid over The bids of Irrigation Age the Deseret News Kelley Co and the Salt Lake Tribune for doing the county printing and furnishing stationery for the ensuing year were opened but not made public as the selectment were not ready to make the award I The clerk was instructed to notify all county officers to appear at the next meeting meet-ing and furnish an estimate of booksetc needed in their departments for the ensuing en-suing year Adjourned until Thursday morning at 10 oclock |
