temperature The concert was the attraction for many and was very enjoyable The Metropolitan quartette sang several numbers in their usual excellent way and were encored at each appearance Mr R S with the conductors His plan is to collect the tickets at the pavilion pa-vilion instead of on the train At Garficlil Beach The Union Pacific people are making great preparations for the outing of the Young Mens Christian association on the 10th of July A quarter mile foot and bicycle racing track will be constructed con-structed this week on the open northwest north-west of the pavilion and Superintendent Washburn intends making it one of the finest in the territory The Y M C A boys are to give some exhibitions of their powers as athletes and a number num-ber of heavy purses will be hung up One of the interesting features of the outfing will be the bicycle race from this city to Garfield Beach The Union Pacific will run an observation train and follow the wheels out to the lake This will give the friends of the riders an opportunity of cheering on their champions and encouraging them to greater efforts II The Twentieth ward will have its annual an-nual outing at Garfield on Tuesday I and the Fifth ward people are figuring 1 on Wednesday as their date The attendance at the resort was I large yesterday but most of the people returned on the 6 oclock train The Union Pacific people have determined I to make their resort one to which the t t most devout may go on Sunday without i with-out fear of being shocked They have I discontinued dancing on the Sabbath 4 day but the people still have the delightful de-lightful music I Superintendent Washburn has made a number of splendid changes this season and the resort never was in I such good shape as at present The water Is now at the proper temperature I tem-perature for bathing and all the bathrooms bath-rooms are provided with warm water showers The heating apparatus is in the engine house The flay at Ellen ParkA I Park-A perfect day with assurance of a good time out at Eden Park induced I I goodly crowds to go out on both the morning and afternoon trains of the Great Salt Lake Hot Springs railway I In the afternoon there were several five car trains and they were loaded to the I t guards The viaduct is now completed over to the pavilion and the large I booth 50x200 feet is adorned with gay I I bunting to correspond to the draping I of the pavilion Within the booth are now erected all the seats and tables necessary for a seasons mammoth business bus-iness and the music is good The crowd yesterday was augmented by the conductors and motormen of the Salt I Lake City Railway company who were there in force The management is I I Fearing no pains to provide for the comforts of patrons and with yesterdays I yester-days business it may be said the new resort is fairly in it I A Pullman Boycott It now looks as though the contemplated contem-plated boycott on Pullman cars will certainly be put into effect by the American Am-erican Railway union next Wednesday noon unless the Pullman people agree to arbitrate the differences with their I men out on strike Every trainsmen in the country knows in common with the traveling public who patronize the Pullman cars that the porters on trains are expected to and do make their living liv-ing off the traveling public who pay right royally for a nights sleep and for years there has been a feeling of hostilitygrOWing among tralnmen towards to-wards the Pullman company as the latter have all the time been growing more arrogant and exacting in their treatment of them Both in the way allowing a tralnsman within their ears when in service on the same train refusing passesand not allowing them even to wash their hands in the toilet rooms and at the same time demanding de-manding of them to look after their interests in-terests as a company in every particular particu-lar It is this exclusiveness and arrogant arro-gant bearing that now goes far towards making trainmen who are not members I mem-bers of the A R U heartily approve of the move as contemplated against the Pullman company II It can be safely said that the A R U men in Salt Lake numbering fully 150 will stand in readiness to fully observe ob-serve the order to boycott as soon as it lsgiV n them from their headquarters in Chieagb The expected skrit cipher ci-pher order has not yet been received here but doubtless will be in ample time if the union is not given assurances assur-ances of arbitration by the Pullman I people I |
