Show THE OUTLOOKS FOR BRICK Expensive Improvements Being UntIe in Local Flouts With the advent of spring the various local brick manufacturers are preparing prepar-ing to resume the manufacture of that superior article which has become famous fam-ous throughout the west Three of the plants two at Bountiful and the other at Mill Creek will resume operations with full forces on the 10th of the month and the others will fall into line within a very short time or just as soon as their present supply of the manufactured man-ufactured article is decreased Four Bountiful yards have closed for the season and are now for sale The Salt Lake Pressed Brick company has under consideration the making of improvements which will require the expenditure of not less than 20000 Among them will be a down draft kiln of 40000 daily capacity whiCh will reduce re-duce the cost of the burning fully one half The works of the company are at Mill Creek and will be put in operation opera-tion on the 10th Kirk Bridge of Bountiful have just put in a new plant at a cost of 5000 of 30000 daily capacity and will commence operations next week The Enterprise Brick company of Bountiful will also resume the manufacture of brick on the 10th The Utah Brick Manutacturers association asso-ciation held its regular weekly meeting yesterday afternoon The reports submitted sub-mitted were of a very encouraging nature na-ture and indicated that the coming i season will be a fairly prosperous one A large number of contracts are being made and building operations will be I more extensive than for several years The association will work for the substitution sub-stitution of brick for the cement in the construction of the gravity sewer This would give the local brickmen an opportunity of increasing the output of their plants and thereby give a great amount of employment to the local unemployed un-employed It would also keep thousands thous-ands of dollars at home It is estimated that the completion of the sewer with brick would require 6500000 |
