Show THE WOELDS FAIR The Ladies Board Meeting with Wonderful Success A Bureau 6f Inrormaion to Be Opened at the Exposition Bnlldinc Todnj General Notes It is estimated that the Utah Worlds fair exhibit now collected or arranged for will occupy about seven thousand square feet of space and the work is not one fourth done The ladies board is meeting with wonderful won-derful success in the matter of the silk portier to be presented as an offering for the womans building at Chicago They have found a woman who can weave tho silk they have secured the raw material they have discovered lace makers to make the trimmings and several ladies are nov working on a design for the decorative work Without doubt it will be a wonderful wonder-ful piece of tai istry Some of the designs already suggested show tnat our Utah ladies are by no means devoid of artistic I taste I A wrong impression has gone abroad in regard re-gard to the Worlds fair exhibit to be made I at the territorial fair Only a few Worlds fair exhibits proper will be on exhibition When the fair opens however the entire territorial fuir will be a rand dress parade I of Worlds fair exhibits because it will show what is possible for Utah to do at the Worlds fair and all of the chiefs of departments de-partments for the Worlds fair will be on hand to make notes and arrange with exhibitors ex-hibitors for Worlds lair exhioits and it is I expected that a large number of articles will be selected from the territorial exhibit ex-hibit The office of the Worlds Fair bureau of information will bo opened at the territorial terri-torial fair wtiefo people can obtain information infor-mation in regard to Worlds fair work The board of lady managers will also be present to look after the womaus department depart-ment of the Utah World fair exhibit The purpose of tho bureau is to answer questions and any one wishing information should not hesitate to apply at the Worlds fair headquarters A gentleman in St George writes to the Worlds fair commission that ho was present when the first gold was discovered at Suiters mill in California in 1848 and was the only person who made a written record of the event at the time and place The California Worlds fair commission has been notified of the fact as it is the intention in-tention of California to exhibit some ot the nuggets of gold found upon that memorable memor-able occasion Utah will have something over 25000 square feet of space at the Worlds fair including the Utah building provided all the space applied for is awarded and according ac-cording to present indications every inch of this space will be required There is every reason to believe that the finest private collection of minerals that will be on exibition at the Worlds fair will be sent from Utab and it will be a pure Utah product cases and all |
