Show HAW AllAN AFFAIRS i The Boston Ordered to Proceed There at Once AS ALSO THE SHIP ALLIANCE The Latter Will Remain at Honolulu Until After Matters Hecome More Tranquil NEW YORE Oct 3A Washington dis jJatcil to the Herald says According to late advices received fit the 8tate department depart-ment from Minister Stevens affairs on Hawaiian islands are growing from bad to worse Serious political troubles which may develop into revolution Is feared and that the state department views the situation situa-tion with some concern as shown by the request from Secretary Foster that orders for the cruiser Boston to leave Honolulu for Acupulco where she WAS to join Bear Admiral Jerards special fleet be countermanded counter-manded and that the Alliance be kept at Honolulu until after things are more tranquil The state department depart-ment prominently acquiesced and telegraph instructions to this effect were sent to San Francisco Saturday last and by mail for Honolulu tbe same day Orders for the Boston to sail were sent by the Alliance which left Frisco early last week and it may happen that the Boston will get off before the mail steamer arrives ar-rives with countermanded orders in which event another steamer will bo sent from San Francisco to join the Alliance in looking look-ing after American interests in Hawaiia The chief concern lelt by the state and naval officers atthe situation in Honolulu grows out of of a possibility of something happening to destroy our chances of securing station secur-ing control of Pearl harbor as a coaling |
