Show TO TIlE VOTERS OP UTAH We have seen no valid reason yet advanced ad-vanced why Delegate Joseph L Raw lins should not be returned to Congress We have heard none why his opponent should be elected In all the efforts that have been made on the stump or in the press to urge the latters election elec-tion nothing but his alleged eloquence personal appearance and belief in the I tenets of his party has been presented to the voters of this territory as argument argu-ment for his preferment Joseph L Rawlins has served the people so well that it seems no hand could be consistently raised against the proposition to return him to his post to finish the work for Utah which he so well began The attempts to belittle his labors to misrepresent his course and to rob him of the credit which is his due have been and are most contemptibly mean and shameful They ought to be resented by every fair man of every creed and party This can be done by casting a ballot for his reelection S Apart from his personal services which are none the less valuable because be-cause his predecessors were able and faithful melt and did their part to pave the way to the success which has crowned his efforts he represents the party of reform of economical government govern-ment of constitutional principles of equal and exact justice to all and special privileges to none His opponent would if he could represent the party of class legislation of high taxes of special favoritism of I class interests of protection to capital of aid to trusts corporations corpo-rations and combines of centraliza of power of loose construction of the Constitution of bounties subsidies and bonuses to the rich and of indifference to the poor and the I great masses of the population That is his chief recommendation to those who put him forward We urge upon the people of Utah the importance of sending back to Congress a tried and talented public servant who has accepted the nomination solely because be-cause It was the ardent wish of his fellow citizens and who is not hulking for office but is simply willing to serve his constituents if they want him to do so He is all that the people of Utah could ask in a public servant and he will db honor tothem and to the territory terri-tory in which he was born and bred Let every man who wants Utah represented repre-sented ably honorably and fully by one who Is exemplary In JIfe learned in I the law able in the forum posted in I the affairs of government and who has i been eminently successful in all he has I undertaken hitherto vote on Tuesday for Joseph L Rawlins and there will never be cause for regret in casting I that ballot Get your Rawlins ticket ready and vote it early on the 6th of November |
