> HEN SUCH AN interesting event was on the tapis Y4I as The National Pageant absorbing i I absorb-ing as It did the attention of most J of our society 0 leaders there was v little time for private pri-vate entertainments entertain-ments so there I are but few to 1 note Yet tho week was a b91 1 liant one with the five sights at the theatre thea-tre crowded as it was with our fashionable people ffr Society is considered heartless and frivolous friv-olous but those who observe closely must acknowledge that they are always + al-ways ready to respond to the call > i of cksrity as the result of the National Pageant Indicates While r t there is much > pleaure In thepreparation of such a performance there Is also an Immense Im-mense amouat of work sad selfsacrifice iThe efforts of the maaagers were as pronounced pro-nounced an artistic success as to be a source of great congratulation and as Mrs PondPope laid only In two other cities Rochester and New York has everything i passed off so smoothly not ajar I not the slightest nnpleasantaesn has been expert exper-t ienced This is Baying much when 200 people are engaged and where there is plenty of opportunity for envy Jealousy and all unoharltablenes There was however how-ever nothing of this to be feared with a lady of such tact and good nature as Mrs PondPope as leader and suoh an able and charitable corps of officers as Mesdames
