Show POOR PARKHURST I His Herculean Efforts in Behalf of Morality Have Worn Mini Out New York Nov 13The session of the Madison Square Presbyterian church has decided to give the Rev Dr C H Parkhurst a vacation from his H as pastor until January 1 Dr Parkhursts coworkers in the Madison Square church realize the full extent of the prodigious labors which I the fearless preacher has performed and the drain on his nervous forces which has not by any means been I stopped because the election resulted as it did The church officers say that if ever a rest was earned Dr Park hurst has earned this one I is not known however whether Dr Park hurst will accept the offer of the session ses-sion or not He has always expressed the feeling that the church year was feelng too short at best and he may be unwilling I 1 un-willing to cut it shorter notwithstanding I I notwithstand-ing the evident fact that he needs the I vacation Dr Parkhurst is expected back from Lakewood on November 26 to address 3 union meeting of the young mens societies of New York and Brooklyn churches which is to be held at Madison Square church On the next evening November 27 a dinnqr in his honor will be given under I the auspices of the officers of the city I vigilance league Covers will be laid for 500 guests This dinner and the i meeting g the Madison Square church on the previous evening will be of special I spe-cial interest asbeing Dr Pal kh rsts first reappearance in public after the election In case Dr Parkhurst should accept the offers of avacation made by the church session his pulpit will probably prob-ably be filled part of the time by well known ministers of the city and part of the time by the Rev J H Denison the assistant pastor of the church Mr Denison isa Williams college man and grandson of Mark Hopkins the famous old president of Williams |
