Show I THE SPORTING WORLD The Forthcoming TugoiWar Tournament A NEW BASEBALL LEAGUE Salt Lako and Ogden Will be Asked to Join IA Darn Wheelman i Sporting Splinters Preparations for the international tugof war to be hold in the theatre are going ahead at a lively rate The teams must bo f the pick of each nation end each pull Is limited to fortyfive minutes No rests will be allowed thus preventing monotony and this is a good idea as no team can pull for two or three hours without resting or banging on the rope Besides the tugof war there will be club swinging singing and clog dancing and a generally pleasing show all around The prices of admission will be 75c 50c 25c and 15c thus making popular prices and giving all a chance to attend At a meeting of those who have the meetng matter in hand last evening Mr Parker I of the English team was substituted as captain anchor for Howcroit who will act as A committee or arrangements consisting of W J Russell W A Robertson C W Parker Joseph Sims Angus Gibson was appointed The financial committee appointed was W A Robertson W H Coffin J W Mc Kinnon Riley Nephi Howcroft Captain William A banner was ordered to be placed over the street in front of the theatre The front First Brigade band was engaged to furnish the music for the tournament Each team consists of a captain eight men and two substitutes The committee of arrangements is composed com-posed of wellknown gentlemen who will see that the tournament is conducted in away a-way to win honor and patronage The exhibition will be for three nights beginning January 25 |
