| Show TIlE STUDEXJ SOCIETY The Becular Meeting was Interesting and Well Attended The regular session of the above society took place in the main hall of the Social ball Friday at 730 p m when a large I and appreciative audience had gathered 1 there The session was opened with a song by the college glee club and prayer Instructor Joseph Nelson was announced as the lecturer of the evening and bis subject sub-ject was Arithmetic The gentleman traduced the subject by briefly trucing the history from the earliest dates to the present pres-ent time and then showed the value of the science of mathematics with all its branches Ufa a training of tue mind in logic memory I tenacity and system The lecturer also offered a fev suggestions and thoughts concerning the methods of teaching arithmetic arith-metic giving illustrations of his subject matter A song was sweetly sung by Miss Louio Felt The president of the society Instructor J J Walton then entertained the attentive atten-tive audience with a reading entitled The Tramp the dramatic ability exhibited I being most excellent and highly appreciated appreci-ated I atedAn An instrumental piece effectively rendered ren-dered by Miss Luetta Cornwall then Jo 1 Jowed In a brief but very concise and com prebensive manner Instructor Willard Done explained the latest scientific discovery discov-ery of the preservation of dead bodies in salt water combined with pressure and after the announcement of the lecturer for the next scstion a song by the glee club I and the benediction the society adjourned for one week |
