| Show Sanitary Inspectors Report The following is a report handed us by the city sanitary inspector which is well worth observation as well as practice by the people of this city October 17th 1800 Health Commission Ogden City GENTLEMEN I respectfully call your atten tion to the fact that after carrying out your instructions in-structions a letter in putting up quarantine cards with printed rules annexed and in warn ing neighboring families of their danger fro quent complaints have been made to me and to others that those rules have been disregarded That people have gone back and forth visit ins Infested hou = es where malignant diphtheria czisted I believe those reports to be true to a certain extent and would respectfully suggest that In the future all cases of diphtheria be fully quarantined by stretching ropes if necessary neces-sary and by stationing a special officer to prevent pre-vent ingress and egress just as you would in a case of small pox This would not only relieve many parents of a terrible surprise but would also prevent the spreading of the disease by contact and would be much less expensive to the city in the end The last and only case of diphtheria remain ing was on Thirtyfirst street near Adams avenue Yesterday after the deceased child WAS buried the house was well fumigated with brimstone infected clothing burned and other clothing and things saturated with diluted car bolic acid A mild form of scarlet fever is still going the rounds of the city Very few if any deaths occur from it The city is In a better sanitary condition than it ever was but there is still room to improve RespectfullyWILUAM WILUAM S LEWIS Sanitary Inspector H J Powrns City Physician |
