THE CORRESPONDENCE between this government gov-ernment and that of Mexico regarding the acquisition by tho United States of Mexican territory is interesting and it is believed to express the sentiment on the subject of the intelligent and patriotic people in each country The officials of our southern neighbor say in effect that no proposition to purchase from the republic any part of its territory would be for a moment entertained that their country is dear to I tho Mexican people and that they would fight to retain their land if they could not hold it otherwise On the part of the United States Mr BLAINE says this republic re-public respects its weaker sisters wishes in the premises that we have all the territory terri-tory in that direction that is desired and 1 that instead of doing anything to weaken Mexico America will help her The United States have about all the Territory they can take caro of and Mexico possesses no more than she needs
